Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine

Naturopathic students are trained in acupuncture, cupping, moxabustion and the conditions and presentations of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture is an energetic therapy used to remove blockages, tone the body’s systems, relieve pain and restore imbalances. From a conventional medical perspective, acupuncture stimulates blood flow to the targeted areas and facilitates the release of immune mediators which aid in the healing process. Examples of conditions in which acupuncture may be indicated include irregular menstrual cycles, muscle or joint pain, injuries, digestive concerns, migraines or headaches, insomnia, cold and flu symptoms, infertility, anxiety and stress. Electroacupuncture may be used in which a small electrical current is used to stimulate the needles further and provide relief for symptoms such as pain. Cupping may be used to relieve tight muscles, increase circulation and move stagnation from tense areas of the body. During the intake I will assess the require for the use of TCM modalities or herbs and create a treatment protocol specific for your needs. acupuncture
