What to expect when seeing a naturopathic doctor for women’s health

Your initial visit is 1.5 hours long, and includes a full health history and health assessment. We will go in depth into your health concerns and symptoms so I can get a full understanding of what is going on. I often provide a requisition for lab testing. This may include full hormonal testing, thyroid function, ruling out certain conditions, assessing for nutrient deficiencies, inflammation, insulin resistance and adrenal function. Testing is based on your health history.

At the end of your visit you will receive a treatment plan that is specific to your case. This may include therapies such as supplements, herbs, dietary or lifestyle recommendations, bioidentical hormone therapy, pharmaceuticals if necessary or acupuncture.

The first follow up visit is 1 hour. This occurs around 1-2 months after our initial consultation. During this visit, we review lab work in detail and go over our prior treatment protocol. I will address any addtional questions, concerns or symptoms that have come up for you. Subsequent visits occur every 2-3 months, and are often around 30 minutes. If acupuncture is part of your treatment protocol, we book you in every 1-2 weeks if you are experiencing hormonal or menstrual imbalances.

Each and every woman is unique. We need to determine where YOU need additional support in order to achieve long lasting and effective results. What works for someone else likely will not work for you. So, it is important to work with a health professional to receive targeted treatment options that are specific for your health.
